There was only one Prince - innovative, masterful, other worldly, musical genius, truly one of a kind.
NOTHING COMPARES 2 PRINCE is a unique concert event, with Prince’s music performed live on stage by a selection of friends, family and band mates who knew him best.
With a special introduction by his sister Tyka Nelson this is a celebration of a remarkable musical life, featuring iconic songs such as ‘Purple Rain’, ‘1999’, ‘Little Red Corvette’, ‘Raspberry Beret’, ‘When Doves Cry’, ‘Kiss’, ‘Diamonds and Pearls’ and ‘Let’s Go Crazy’. Classics he wrote for other artists will also be showcased including ‘Manic Monday’ (The Bangles), ‘The Glamorous Life’ (Sheila E.), and, of course, ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’.
NOTHING COMPARES 2 PRINCE covers four decades of hits, with 13 of the worlds finest performers live on stage. The show will feature members of Prince’s bands, The New Power Generation and The Family, as well as Prince’s associates from The Time, and co-stars of his Oscar-winning movie, Purple Rain.
The line-up includes St. Paul Peterson, who was handpicked by Prince to appear in Purple Rain and was later the original voice of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’; SHELBY J. (as named by Prince) who spent the last 10 years at his side as a lead vocalist in The New Power Generation, Stokely Williams of Mint Condition a Minne Native and Minneapolis All-Star, Jellybean Johnson of The Time, a high school friend, and along with Prince, one of the architects of The Minneapolis Sound; Cassandra O’Neal, keyboard player for Prince and The New Power Generation from 2009 to 2016; Ricky Peterson, who co-produced Prince’s ‘The Most Beautiful Girl In The World’, a number one hit in Australia in 1994; The list continues with Andy Allo, Tori Ruffin, collaborator Nik West plus members of The NPG Hornz.
All of the artists have been assembled for these exclusive Australian shows, which coincide with the second anniversary of Prince’s passing. It will be a night to remember.
